Embedded & Cloud Systems Engineer

We are hiring an Embedded & Cloud Systems Engineer to help us deliver connected systems that power fleets, field tools, and infrastructure across defense, logistics, and renewable energy sectors.

You’ll work across embedded firmware, real-time data ingestion, backend infrastructure, and cloud dashboards to unify data from thousands of physical assets.

About This Role

Key Responsibilities

Embedded Systems Development

  • Develop firmware for MCUs (ARM Cortex, STM32, ESP32) supporting CAN, J1939, BLE, OBD-II, and RFID.
  • Create drivers and HALs for interfacing with sensors, GPS, and wireless modules.
  • Implement OTA firmware update systems, diagnostics logging, and performance optimization for power and uptime.

Cloud & Backend Development

  • Build RESTful and WebSocket APIs for ingesting edge telemetry.
  • Develop serverless and containerized pipelines (AWS Lambda, Docker, etc.) to process time-series data.
  • Design and maintain database schemas (SQL, NoSQL, time-series DBs).
  • Support multi-tenant cloud infrastructure and secure data routing.

AI, Data Engineering & Automation

  • Collaborate with data and software teams to integrate AI/ML models for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and event classification.
  • Support automation of firmware and software testing pipelines.
  • Design ETL and data transformation workflows to enable real-time analytics.

Visualization & Dashboard Integration

  • Collaborate with front-end teams on real-time data dashboards (React, Grafana, etc.).
  • Deliver backend services to power portals, alerts, and reporting tools.
  • Contribute to system architecture for unified, cloud-connected dashboards.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work in agile cycles with rapid prototyping and frequent deliverables.
  • Interface with product, engineering, and client teams to refine requirements.
  • Write clean, well-documented, version-controlled code that reflects pride and precision.

Required Technical Skills

  • Languages: C/C++, Python, Node.js
  • Protocols: CAN, J1939, UART, SPI, I2C, BLE, TCP/IP, MQTT
  • Hardware: ARM Cortex MCUs, ESP32, GPS modules, RFID, BLE sensors
  • Cloud: AWS IoT Core, Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2, S3, Greengrass
  • Backend: REST APIs, WebSockets, serverless architecture, event-driven systems
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, InfluxDB, MongoDB, Redis
  • DevOps: Git, CI/CD, Docker, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar)
  • Visualization: Grafana, React, or similar
  • AI Tools (Preferred): TensorFlow Lite, Edge AI, AWS Sagemaker, or equivalent

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–7 years in embedded firmware, IoT, or full-stack data platform development.
  • Experience in fleet, logistics, construction tech, or smart infrastructure preferred.
  • Proven ability to deliver robust, connected hardware/software products.

Benefits

  • Pay: $120,000 – $150,000 DOE
